Dorflinger-Suydam Press

The Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary established a Dorflinger-Suydam Press for the purpose of publishing information relating to the Sanctuary's stated purpose of furthering natural history, conservation, artistic and cultural education, and serving the people as an agency for popular enlightenment, cultural improvement and scientific progress, recognizing through its programs the essential relationship among the natural, artistic and historic elements of the area.

To that end, the Dorflinger-Suydam Press published, with the American Cut Glass Association, a book of illustrations on Dorflinger glass.  The catalog was dedicated to John C. Dorflinger and Katheryn Hait Dorflinger Manchee, and was made possible through the generosity of the families of John C. Dorflinger and Katheryn Manchee.  This Dorflinger Line Drawings catalog was published in 1994.

The cover of "C. Dorflinger & Sons, Fine Cut Glass"In 1997, the Dorflinger-Suydam Press collaborated with the American Cut Glass Association and the Rakow Library, at the Corning Museum of Glass, to publish a reprint of original Dorflinger glass company catalogs entitled C. Dorflinger & Sons, Fine Cut Glass.

The cover of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game," by Frederick SuydamThe Press reprinted Fred Suydam's book, Take Me Out to the Ball Game, originally published in 1948, to celebrate the creation of the Wayne Area Sports Hall of Fame.  Take Me Out to the Ball Game is a history of the sport of baseball in Wayne County from 1897-1947.  It includes dozens of photographs of athletes and teams that played in the area leagues during the time.
