Gift of Walter and Marilyn Barbe
This colorless pitcher or jug has an elegant “swan neck” applied handle and is cut in a pattern of cut facets in the Hollow Diamond or Honeycomb motif. It is one of the few well documented pieces of glass made by Christian Dorflinger’s companies. The piece was likely made in Brooklyn, probably at the Greenpoint factory. It belonged to Christian Dorflinger and descended to his daughter Katherine Louise. A photograph of it appears in one of the standard reference books Two Hundred Years of American Blown Glass by Helen and George S. McKearin, published in 1949.
